Few more pictures

Day 7, Sighisoara, România

The last day in Romania was sunny and dry, so we made a few nice pictures which can tell you more than 1000 words.

PS pictures were taken from the Clock Tower (Turnul Cu Ceas). Ask the student ticket (2,5 lei) as the staff is fully indifferent whether you have an ID or not.

Typical Romania

Day 5, Sighisoara & surroundings

In the 1st day of Christmas, the whole country stays at home without making any effort to go outside. That's why it was a great day to start exploring surroundings of Sighisoara, so-called typical and true Romania.

Another trend of Romania - fire places in almost every house. It really rules, I must say!

Coffee break

Day 4, Sighisoara

Today we prepared and celebrated Xmas, but this post isn't about it, but about black beans drink.

Surprizingly, you can order a great coffee even here, in Sighisoara. Highly recommended is coffee in Concordia, they have Julius Meinzl, and even serve you drinks in a limited edition cups (15€ for a small cup on Amazon). Definitely try Millionaires coffee here.

In Perla, there's also a good coffee menu by Illy, but i won't recommend Irish Coffee: although it's pretty strong, it's also to bitter and the substance doesn't look very attractive.

Pricing for info: espresso & americano is around 1.00-1.50€, specials with alcohol are about 2.00-2.50€. We keep tasting further on!

Partying in Romania

Day 3, Sighisoara

After the whole day ride to Brasov & Bran, great home-made dinner and having a short nap, we went out as it possible in Sighisoara.

Starting with a pre-party in Casa Cositorarului (try to pronounce very quickly), which seems to be our everyday location, we moved to Aristocrat, the best (and the single) disco in the town.

Romanians put much attention to the interior of the most locations (as Russians too): well designed club is hardly to imagine in such a small town.

Typically, it was very smoked, very many Barbie-girls competing who has the shortest skirt, and a pretty ok party house music.

Cocktails between 2 and 4 euros, soft drinks for 1.50 and beer for 2 euro: isn't it a great basis to a great party?

So we left after 3am, completely tired, smoked out, but in a very good mod. In a nut shell, highly recommended if you are indifferent to smoke & celebrate with a group of friends.

Best medieval location in Sighisoara

Day 3, Sighisoara, Romania

Since we took a walk through the narrow streets in the citadel, we stopped by the Casa Cositorarului. The Coffee House is located near Tower Cositorarilor, part of the citadel's wall. It is a traditional place in medieval style with impressive interior decoration.

A must-have: one of the many delicious tea varieties!

Dracula castle

Day 3, Bran, Castelul Bran

We've been to Bran Castle, which was the residence of Dracula, according to the legend. In reality, Dracula stayed there only once overnight, but the castle became one of the most touristic sights in Romania.

More pictures to come, and here's the view from the top.

Sighisoara at day

Day 2, Sighisoara, Romania

Never thought, that the real winter will start in Romania, but that's true: after +5 in Germany, I found here lots of snow and a bit frosty air.

Sighisoara in daylight is very beautiful and silent. Probably, it's a great time explore this town in winter: not only because it's covered by the snow blanket, but also there are not so many tourists and the town has its authentic face. There is a mix of medieval charme and winter feeling

Longstory short, we explored the medieval citadel and the high school on the top of it, ancient streets, and of course, the house where Vlad Tepes (the protoype of count Dracula) was born - see the yellow building below.

Plans for the next day: to explore the city of Brasov and the Bran castle, which was Dracula's residence, at least according to Bram Stoker.

Cuisine

Day 2, Sighisoara, Romania

Tasting Romanian deserts - papanasi.

Sighisoara at night

Day 1, Sighisoara, Romania

Arrived to Sibiu Airport, we had to move to Sighisoara. Thank to Romanian 'autobahns', the 90km trip took almost 2h by car;)

It was already dark when we arrived and went for a short walk thru the cstle and downtown.

Surprizingly, it looked even better than in the pictures: a true non-commercial Christmas atmosphere, singing chors, great illumination and very ancient streets and buildings, that all creates an impression of a Christmas fairy-tale.

We made few pics, before we started with a bar-hopping. But this will be already other story:)

Beer tasting 1.0

Day 1, Sighisoara, Romania

Short Tasting of Romanian beer proved that this country definitely has a brewing potential: Ursus Black scored at least 7 out of 10 among bottled beers. Especially I like pricing in Romanian pubs: 1.25€ for a pint, isn't it a paradise?

Show must go on! And will go on!

On the way

Day 1, Vienna Schwechat Airport

Finally the trip has begun: we needed to wake up very early and promblemless got to FFM airport.

Sibiu isn't connected with FFM directly so we're flying via Vienna, which is a pretty good way: there's free internet here, convenient shopping area and Austrian sparkling wine!

Somehow it's a feeling, that the trip starts only from here on. Keeping you updated further on!
